Program Details
This program is a four-week immersive experience, combining education, cultural exploration, and personal growth. You’ll spend three weeks in Prague, Czech Republic, and one week in TBD, fully engaged in classes, local tours, and cultural activities.

- Must be paying for college with a form of financial assistance (student loan, FASFA, etc)
- Between the age of 18-25 years old
- Florida Resident of one of the following counties: Martin, St Lucie, Okeechobee, Palm Beach, or Indian River
- GPA 2.5 and above
- This scholarship application is open to college students and trade/certificate program students.

Who is eligible to apply?
This program is open to college and trade/certificate program students aged 18-25 who:
- Reside in Martin, St. Lucie, Okeechobee, or Indian River County, Florida.
- Are paying for college with financial assistance (e.g., student loans, FAFSA).
- Have a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
What does the scholarship cover?
The scholarship covers major trip expenses, including:
- Round-trip airfare.
- Accommodations on the CZU campus in Prague and in Belgium.
- Transportation costs during the trip, including a City Transportation Pass
- A university meal package covering about 75% of meals.
Are there any out-of-pocket costs for students?
Students are responsible for:
- Personal expenses (souvenirs, snacks, etc.).
- Select lunches during free days.
- Majority of dinners (approximately 25% of meals).
What is the amount of the scholarship?
We offer partial and full scholarships each year based on financial need. The full scholarship amount is $6,000.
How is the scholarship money distributed?
Scholarship funds are directly applied to cover trip expenses such as flights, accommodations, transportation, tours, cultural experiences, and meals.
What is the application process?
- Submit your online application and a 3-5 minute video explaining why you’re excited about this opportunity.
- Attend an in-person interview in January 2025 (details will be provided).
- The selection committee will review applications and notify selected participants.
Where will I stay during the trip?
Students will stay in group accommodations on the CZU campus in Prague, Czech Republic. Accommodations in Belgium will also be provided as part of the group trip.
How long is the program?
The study abroad trip is a 4-week (month-long) educational and cultural experience. From the end of May into June.
Will I have free time to explore?
Yes! While many activities are group-oriented, there will also be free time to explore Prague, Belgium, and other locations on your own or with friends.
Do I need to know a foreign language?
No! Classes and activities are conducted in English, and English is widely spoken throughout Europe. You’ll also have the chance to learn some basic Czech and experience local languages during your trip.
What kind of classes will I take?
The program offers non-major-specific classes focused on topics like culture, history, and global perspectives, giving you a well-rounded educational experience.
Is this program safe?
Absolutely. We prioritize student safety with:
- Dedicated trip leaders available 24/7.
- Local student guides to help navigate the city.
How are students chosen for the program?
Applicants are selected through a rigorous process, including:
- Review of online applications and video submissions.
- An in-person interview.
- Final selection by a scholarship committee.
What makes this program unique?
This program blends education and cultural exploration. You’ll travel as a group, attend classes with local and international students, and experience a thoughtfully curated mix of educational and cultural activities in both the Czech Republic and Belgium.
What are the volunteer requirements after the trip?
Selected students are required to participate in at least three (3) events with The Traveling Youth within one year of their trip.
Can I still apply if I’ve traveled abroad before?
Yes! While the program is geared toward students who may not have had travel opportunities, anyone meeting the eligibility requirements is welcome to apply.
Can I still apply if I have summer classes or work commitments?
We recommend clearing your schedule, as the program requires full participation. The trip typically aligns with the “Summer 1” term for colleges. You may consider taking one online class or discussing extended leave with your employer.
What happens if I get selected but can’t attend?
If selected and unable to attend, let us know immediately. Once you accept the scholarship, we require full commitment as funds will be allocated to secure your spot (e.g., flights, transportation).
What should I pack for the trip?
We’ll provide a detailed packing list closer to the departure date, but you’ll need essentials like comfortable walking shoes, casual clothing, and weather-appropriate gear.
